Certificate in Palliative Care (D20170)

Course Overview

The Certificate in Palliative Care is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge and skills to help care for the dying person and his/her family in a dignified and holistic way.

Course Content

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

  • Provide holistic care for dying persons and their families
  • Communicate effectively with dying persons and their families
  • Enhance the quality of life of the dying person
  • Recognise and respect the uniqueness of each person’s approach to death
  • Work effectively as part of the healthcare team

Assessment

In order to successfully complete the module participants will be required to complete one assignment and a learner record.

Award

Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Palliative Care.

Entry Requirements

Participants should have a Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Duration

12 weeks, 2.5 hours per week
