Introduction to the Internet (LF2547)

Course Overview

This course is ideal for people who have little or no experience with computers and the concept of the internet. It aims to build a basic understanding of the internet and to become familiar with common tasks that are useful on a day to day basis when using a computer and accessing the World Wide Web.

Course Content

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of the world wide web and be aware of the terms used in relation to the Internet
  • Develop the skills required to send and receive emails
  • Download digital photographs and scan documents to your computer and save them
  • Send attachments such as photographs with emails
  • Search for information on the Internet
  • Complete tasks on line
  • Be aware of Antivirus protection on the Internet.

Assessment

In order to successfully complete the module participants will be required to complete one project and pass one exam.

Award

Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 3 Certificate in “Introduction to the Internet”.

Entry Requirements

No previous qualifications or experience are required for this course.

Duration

12 weeks, 2.5 hours per week.
