Certificate in Information and Communication Systems (B20145)

Course Overview

This module has been designed to enable the learner to operate effectively within an IT environment. The focus is on acquiring the theoretical knowledge underlying data processing and on developing the practical skills required for information processing.

Course Content

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

  1. appreciate the importance of information to organisations
  2. appreciate the importance and function of various items of hardware and software used in computer systems
  3. appreciate the growing impact of the internet on business and society
  4. recognise the changes in information technology on work practices and employment patterns
  5. .

Assessment

In order to successfully complete the module participants will be required to complete an assignment and pass one exam.

Award

Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Information and Communication Systems.

Entry Requirements

Participants should have a Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Duration

12 weeks, 2.5 hours per week
