Course Overview
This module is aimed at people who wish to improve their communication skills in the workplace and in an organizational setting. It will enable participants to develop their skills with communication in human interaction and to acquire communication skills relevant to vocational and personal development. Successful participants will be able to understand the communicative principles and practices involved in gathering and relaying information and to
acquire the skills and confidence to convey and interpret meaning, in writing, orally and visually. They will also develop a critical awareness of communications messages and
media and explore the use of modern communication and information technology, and its application in personal and vocational life.
Course Content
This course consists of 4 units: :
- Unit 1 Listening and Speaking
- Unit 2 Reading and Writing
- Unit 3 Non-Verbal and Visual Communication
- Unit 4 Communications Technology
Assessment
In order to successfully complete the module participants will be required to complete one project, one assignment and a learner record.
Award
Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Communications.
Entry Requirements
Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.
Duration
12 weeks, 2.5 hours per week
