Certificate in Care of the Older Person (D20180)

Course Overview

The Certificate in Care of the Older Person is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to provide care for older people in a variety of settings.

Course Content

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

  • Demonstrate good work practices in the provision of individualised holistic care for older people
  • Understand the concept of the ageing process
  • Be able to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of care settings
  • Enhance the quality of life of the older person

Assessment

In order to successfully complete the module participants will be required to complete a skills demonstration and a project.

Award

Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Care of the Older Person.

Entry Requirements

Participants should have a National Vocational Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Duration

12 weeks, 2.5 hours per week
