Certificate in Applied Economics (B20151)
Course Overview
The Certificate in Applied Economics is designed to provide learners with a core understanding of the basic principles of economics and how those principles effect individuals and businesses on a day to day basis. The focus is on acquiring the knowledge and skills which enable the learner to apply economic thinking to current issues and to build up a strong level of understanding with regard to current debate on macro-economic issues and how economics impacts upon their own lives.
Course Content
Learners who successfully complete this module will:
- Understand economic concepts and terms and the fundamentals of economic theory and policy
- Appreciate the impact of supply and demand on price and production
- Relate their understanding of economics to their specific vocational area
- Understand the role that money and financial institutions play in economic development
Assessment
In order to successfully complete the module participants will be required to complete two assignments and pass one exam.
Award
Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Information and Communication Systems.

Upon successful completion of the module participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Applied Economics.
